A brief history

In 2006, the project Vamos Fazer Arte – PROVARTE – was created to teach of music through volunteer work, to democratize access to musical education for children and teenagers in the city of Croatá-CE. At first, this sociocultural initiative took place with only 30 children with sweet flute and percussion classes and in the training of the flute group Doce Melodia.

In 2008, the institution was benefited with financial support from the Ministério da Cultura do Brasil through FUNARTE, which enabled the purchase of its first wind instruments and increased its coverage potential by more than 50%.  This support enabled the teaching of wind instrumental practice in order to form a children's and youth orchestra. Since 2009, Orquestra Filarmônica Estrelas da Serra (OFES) has had 38 members and has become the main result of all the work already developed out by the Institution.

In 2011, PROVARTE was recognized as a Ponto de Cultura by the Ceará state government and the Ministério da Cultura do Brasil, becoming the Ponto de Cultura Vamos Fazer Arte. There was recognition and certification by Fundação Itaú Social, UNICEF and the Centro de Estudos e Pesquisas em Educação, Cultura e Ação Comunitária – CENPEC – as one of the main projects in the northeast region that carries out socio-educational action, contributing, in partnership with public schools , for integral education in 2013.

With excellent results, more than 1,000 children and teenagers have already been assisted by our institution. Today, 250 people take part in Children's Musicalization and Musical Instrument lessons in the following areas: sweet flute (up to 10 years old); Blows; Guitar; Percussion and Electric Instruments; and classes in Basic Informatics and Sheet Music Editing with computational resources. The results are increasingly significant in the improvement of school performance and behavior as citizens.
